A photo trip through Montana last year. It was on and off all day with the storm, but I went through it and made it through.

Excellent! Did you use a graduated density filter on the sky?

No. This one was touch and go Frank. It took me about five different shots to finally get the exposure that I liked and then another three waiting for clouds that I liked. With this one, I still had to settle because of the harsh light coming through on the left washing out the mountains. I used a circular polarizer and in post adjusted the contrast and did a little bit of dodging and burning.
Given this opportunity to make this shot again this year, I have two things going for me that I didn’t then. (1) I finally got my VND and (2) I am now shooting in RAW. The switch over to RAW itself was a huge boost to processing!!
