SHE HAD BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS DAY with a considerable amount of anticipation. It had only been four weeks since that chance meeting; the moment when neither was paying attention and both reached for the same half and half pitcher at the same time. “Was it fate” she thought to herself, or was she just “simply in the right place at the right time?” Either way, to her it didn’t matter. She vividly remembered the soft touch and the cute little grin that can only be born of surprise and mild embarrassment. Mostly, she remembered the way she felt inside; the electricity that coursed through her body as their eyes met.
Now she sits and waits. The past month has seen its share of phone calls and a text message inbox that is constantly full. Not a day has gone by that they haven’t talked and when they weren’t talking, not a day has gone by that she hasn’t thought of that magical moment. Now they were to meet again and with anticipation, she sits and watches the door.
The time has come and gone though and the electricity that she has felt has now somehow changed. Is something wrong? Is someone hurt? “Come to think of it, I haven’t heard a thing today”. So now, her watching becomes more of an empty stare as her mind starts working overtime processing the what-ifs.
And she watches……
