I really felt this image when I saw it.  It is me – turned upside down and face down in the sand; the only evidence of movement being the wrinkles left when adjusting my position.  I lie here waiting for the warmth and glow of the sun to return knowing that on that day; I will again be useful and everything is going to be a little bit brighter and an awful lot warmer.

In the mean time, I attempt to find beauty in the darkness….

IT’S BEEN A VERY EASY WINTER HERE THIS YEAR so I probably shouldn’t be complaining too much. However, today’s image is aptly named as we are now into the fourth month of winter and it is actually been like winter for the last month or so. The image today was shot the same day as this one. This was also shot in RAW and I just have to say here that I don’t know why in the world I ever shot in JPG. It’s for certain that it took me a bit to get up the nerve to go outside of the box (that which I was comfortable with) but I’m glad I did. Now I just need to get a better program to process it.

JENNESTAD’S CLOTHING WAS OPENED IN 1908 by Ole and Hannah Jennestad at 317 First Avenue in Sandpoint; directly across the street from where the Panida Theater resides.  Because of the reputation of Ole, this was a very popular place for men to have their clothing fitted.   Jennestad’s also once fitted Commodore Frank Harrison Kelley, the Base Commander at Farragut Naval Station for uniforms and was responsible for outfitting approximately 750 prisoners of war located at the station with boots and socks. The business was taken over by Ole and Hannah’s daughter Edith Jennestad until she retired.

Here’s an image I shot today that I had a little fun processing.   This was great practice because the shooting conditions around mid-day today sucked pretty bad.  That wasn’t all though.  I decided that under such harsh conditions that it would be a really good idea to shoot a water reflection while pretty much facing directly into the sun.

I can’t wait ’til spring!

This is a follow up to the post entitled The Crossing. I haven’t decided whether or not I like this one or not.  There are some days when I look at it and it really appeals to me and then there are other days (like today) when I look at it and think, “what crap!!”

What do you think?

• Decrease sidebar size from 300px to 250px
• Decreased the left sidebar margin from 40px to 20px
• Set the Featured image to 680px from 600px (Wider)
• Set the primary post area to 680px from 600px
• Decreased the size of In Other News from 190px to 150px

What did all of this do for me?   All of this was simply to widen out the Latest Post from 380px to 500px; and in my mind, that’s a huge improvement.   I also tried to widen out the entire format from 980px to 1024px but the CSS would not allow me to make the necessary changes to set the default size of the header image to 1024.  Oh well, I guess I can sacrifice 44px.

It’s been a couple of days now and as I’m sure my regular readership has found, things have changed a bit around here.   WordPress came out with a new free theme last week from Design Disease called Splendio.  After a little bit of tweaking to make it work for me, it is now up and running.    There are a couple of things that I really like about this theme.   The first is the Featured Post Slider which appears at the top of the page.  With this feature, all I need to is make a post “sticky” and presto; I now can pick out a different subject every other week or so to feature.  Just below that is the most current post in it’s entirety, the only actual post to show on the home page.   Since my format before was to have only one post on the front page anyway, this isn’t much of  a change as far as posting.   I do wish that it could be a little bit wider though.  Next to the current post is a column labeled “In Other News”.   This is a great feature that displays your ten most recent posts.

I also like that there is six widget areas; five of which are in the footer.   There is plenty of room for personalization in the widget areas.  Of course, I had to remove  a few of my widgets like SEARCH, RECENT POSTS and RSS FEEDS because that content was now included in the blog format.   At the top of the page to the right of the Blog Title is now a built in search tool and to the bottom of that search box is an area where the theme includes buttons for RSS feeds, Twitter and Facebook.    Imagine my surprise to find that there was actually room for redundancy in my life.   I kept the Facebook and Twitter widgets active!

Anyhow, I thought I might solicit a little bit of feedback from my readership, at least those of you who have seen what the blog appearance was before this.   ‘

Now she sits and waits. The past month has seen its share of phone calls and a text message inbox that is constantly full. Not a day has gone by that they haven’t talked and when they weren’t talking, not a day has gone by that she hasn’t thought of that magical moment. Now they were to meet again and with anticipation, she sits and watches the door.

The time has come and gone though and the electricity that she has felt has now somehow changed. Is something wrong? Is someone hurt? “Come to think of it, I haven’t heard a thing today”. So now, her watching becomes more of an empty stare as her mind starts working overtime processing the what-ifs.
